day 08 – a song you know all the words to

OHHH the songs I could have picked for this one. I know a lot of words to a lot of songs, but one in particular jumped out at me when I saw what Day 8 was.

I like to think I have an eclectic music taste. I like a little bit of everything, unless you’re screaming at me or you’re too twangy (see day two of this challenge for an example – and while you’re at it, check out one, three, four, five, six and seven).

That said, my middle school years and a good portion of high school were dedicated to rap, among others. I knew all the words to almost all of Eminem’s first album, I made my sister listen to rap in the morning with me when I drove her to school my senior year (her freshman year)…. oh. And Nelly? Don’t even get me started. I love him.

Sidenote: A kid I interviewed for something for the newspaper I used to work for asked me if I knew who Nelly was because he’s his favorite singer. I said, “Um, yeah, I was listening to him before you were born.” And then I said, “So suck it.” Only not really but I put that as my Facebook status and I think one of my aunts was convinced I talk like that to elementary-schoolers.

But I’m not picking a Nelly song for Day 8.

Nope. I’m picking a song that I knew and loved back in the day. Seventh grade.

Day 8 – Song you know all the words to.

It was before Puff was Diddy or Dirty Money or P.Deezy or whatever he goes by these days. Biggie had already died (R.I.P) and Ma$e rapped on it too. Speaking of, where is he these days?

So yeah – Biggie, Puffy, Ma$ey’s “Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems.” I know the whole thing. That’s right. It’s a classic.
